In 2023 privatised Southern Water dumped sewage into the River Hamble 354 times for a total of 3746 hours.
That’s 156 days, 3 times per week on average!
And on the coast privatised Southern Water dumped sewage 50 times for 448 hours in total into Southampton Water.

Some sites within the constituency saw an increase in sewage dumping from 2022 of up to nearly 1500%. And this is while Southern Water made profits of £285m and their owners made profits of £4bn!
A Labour government have committed to impose automatic and severe fines for water companies that harm the environment and pollute our rivers and new powers to the regulator to block bonuses until water bosses have cleaned up the filth.
Our waterways/coastline are an integral part of our constituency. For both residents and visitors, and our wildlife, it is vital that our waterways are kept free from pollution.
